Little Inferno Making Comeback With New Expansion

Tomorrow Corporation has announced a surprise Ho Ho Holiday Expansion for its strange fire-lighting puzzle game Little Inferno. It’s approaching the 10th anniversary of Little Inferno‘s launch on PC and Wii U, and it seems Tomorrow Corporation is feeling somewhat nostalgic. Few may have been expecting Tomorrow Corporation to ever revisit Little Inferno, perhaps even Tomorrow Corporation itself is surprised. Yet the Ho Ho Ho Holiday Expansion is on its way regardless and will be delivered free to Little Inferno players soon.

Little Inferno tasks players with burning things. In the game’s story, the player has purchased a Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace, a toy that children can use to burn all manner of things to help stay warm. The player will be tasked with burning items of increasing value and macabre design, as well as combinations of items that are darkly funny. Through burning things, Little Inferno players will experience an unsettling, yet oddly endearing story. It’s the perfect fit for a holiday-themed expansion.

The Ho Ho Holiday expansion for Little Inferno will deliver players an assortment of merry goods to burn. There will be 20 new toys to purchase for torching, as well as 50 new combos pairing the holiday items with purchases from earlier catalogs. There’s also a special Infinite Yule Log that burns forever, which is both something fun to experiment with and odd considering the goal of Little Inferno is to burn everything.

It wouldn’t be a Little Inferno experience if there wasn’t also a story to uncover through burning things. Tomorrow Corporation describes it as a scary new holiday story, warning players that something is coming. There’s also a mysterious new character to meet, which is as foreboding as it is exciting.

One big question worth asking is how the Ho Ho Holiday Expansion will fit into the existing story of Little Inferno. Perhaps it will be a simple side-story, or it could accent the main story in a fun way. Little Inferno fans may even have hopes that the expansion will hint at a sequel or something else from Tomorrow Corporation. Regardless, fans will hopefully be appreciative that the small developer team was willing to do something cool for its fanbase after so many years.

Tomorrow Corporation remains busy, of course. While it’s still silent regarding the ongoing development of Welcome to the Information Superhighway, it’s active in other ways. Tomorrow Corporation launched 7 Billion Humans on Android and published its first game, The Captain, in 2021. It’s also released new merchandise, including a Little Inferno Sugar Plumps plush, relatively recently. Hopefully, its efforts will be rewarded and a wave of new players will check out the indie darling that is Little Inferno this holiday season. The new update arrives on November 18 for PC and soon after on the Nintendo Switch.

Little Inferno is available now on PC, Switch, and mobile devices.
